Module  6.1 - Overview of Muscular System

The muscular system is one of the most detailed systems we will examine this year. There are so many different muscles and so many different ways each muscle can move. In this module we will begin to examine the basics of the muscular system as well as some rare cases of when skeletal muscles aren't in the individual's control.

- Using your assigned disorder, First three rows in classroom = Dystonia, if you sit in the last row or at the lab tables = Spinal Muscle Atrophy,  answer the following questions in your module guide...

1) What is the prevalence of this disorder (how many cases - in the U.S. or worldwide)?

2) Describe (in detail) how this disease affects the body (what physiological aspects of the muscular system aren't in balance (homeostasis)):

3) Research another case of an individual with the disorder. Describe how the disorder varies from case to case. Include symptoms, treatment, and any other necessary information.
