Sympathetic vs. Parasympathetic Nervous System Comparison
Directions: For this assignment you will be comparing aspects of the Parasympathetic and the Sympathetic systems, both of which are branches of autonomic nervous system.
- Create some sort of comparison chart that compares and contrasts the PSNS and the SNS.
- Some examples of information to include in this chart:
1) The general role of each in the body 2) The structures within the body they act upon AND what effects each has on that section 3) The origin of nerve fibers (sections of the spinal cord) 4) The length of the fibers (pre-ganglionic and post-ganglionic) 5) The location of ganglia 6) Neurotransmitters used 7) The general effects (are they widespread or localized?, are they long lasting or short?) 8) Any other pertinent information
