The nature of A & P requires a vast knowledge of past physical and biological concepts. Please review all necessary connections before diving into the unit. This will ensure that you have the back ground necessary to be successful in during the course of the unit.

Essential Connections for unit 9, Cardiovascular:

- The heart is the most dependable muscle in the body beating on average 115,000 times per day and about 3 billion times if you were to live to age 72! Recalling some basic information about the muscle (myocardium), that comprises this reliable system will be the task for this section.

- In your module guide (essential connections section), using some organized format (chart/table/etc), review and compare cardiac muscle to the other two main muscle groups. This will not only serve as a great review of some of the major characteristics of muscle in general, but also give you a head start for when we begin to learn about heart physiology.
